New Year, New Message! Help Your Clients Maintain, Don’t Gain More Weight

New Year, New Message! Help Your Clients Maintain, Don’t Gain More Weight

This premise put into theory works well!  We (One-to-One clients) have had this as a focus now for a few years (especially over the holiday season) and almost everyone has come out at the same weight if not at a reduced weight than when holiday season started!
Be well and consider new ways of being - they may be your impetus for change in the New Year and beyond.

Partner Personal Training at One-to-One

What is One-to-One's Partner Training?  Simply stated, it is sharing training sessions with a friend, spouse, or family member.  What are the benefits?  The fee for partner training clients is significantly less than individual training, your "partner" is there to support you both in session and out in the real world, and you both get the same great results that One-to-One is able to generate for all their clients.

IPFW Conditioning for Performers

A big thank you to Brittney Coughlin and the students in the IPFW Conditioning for Performers Class for inviting me to instruct Self-Massage for Myofascial Release.  I am passionate about getting the word out on this method of self-care that reduces pain, inflammation and improves quality
of movement.  Your enthusiasm and participation in this class motivated me.  May it motivate all of you to continue what you learned and pass the "good news" on to others.

One-to-One Now Offering Group Classes for Corrective Exercise

What is One-to-One Corrective Exercise (CE) and Who Benefits?

CE is a systematic process used to improve overall function of body movement resulting in less pain, better posture, less inflammation, and greater ease of movement.  This revolutionary approach incorporates structural assessments, self-myofascial release (self massage), active stretching, posturally correct body-weight-only movement patterns and life coaching strategies into a simple system that makes improved function and pain-free living a reality for people plagued by muscle and joint pain.

With over 30 years of experience, I have helped people from the ages of 30 to 90 restore their bodies to a healthier state.  From professional dancers to retirees, clients have avoided surgery, returned to their traditional exercise programs, resumed physical activity at work and continued high level pursuits such as running and dancing.  I hope YOU will join us!

Got A Pain In Your Body?
Corrective Exercise May Be The Anecdote!
This is a self myofascial release (SMR) technique that we use to help clients reduce pain in the hips and back and allows them to posture with feet "facing" forward rather than turned out which oftentimes leads to pain in the back and hips.  Simply sit on the foam roller and roll back and forth through the entire buttocks on each side of the body.  It should be a "hurts so good" type of sensation, never painful.  For more help with your aches and pains, please contact One-to-One for Corrective Exercise.  Remember, we also do all types of "traditional" training as well, in addition to Wellness Coaching for Behavior Change relative to reducing stress, nutritional and exercise adherence, relationship building, and much more.  Just call us or e-mail.

Study: A Calorie is Just a Calorie, But When You Eat it is Important, Too

Although there are other factors to take into account (am I not eating enough throughout the day which causes me to over-eat later, quality of foods eaten, etc.) this is still an important component to consider for all of us, especially for weight loss and maintaining a balanced blood sugar level throughout the day which affects energy level.

Happiness . . .

It may be subjective, but happiness is beneficial for risk of illness, survival of illness and longevity.
Perhaps more importantly, a sense of happiness will allow life to be more enjoyable compared to less happy people.
How do we become happier?  Exercise is a "quick fix" for happiness as even a single bout of activity can improve mood.  Taking in good experiences  defeats the brain's tendency to be negative and allows us to feel more confident.  Mental activity such as meditation reshapes the brain and helps us focus on the positive.  "Dwell" on positive experiences for 30 seconds and offset the inclination to remember negative experiences.
May you enjoy this week of "love" and be happy always.
